About the MPPS Orchestras
The MPPS Orchestra was founded in 1923 and have remained an important part of our school music community since.
The MPPS Orchestra consists of three different ensembles, Beginning Strings, Intermediate Orchestra are offered at Mount Pleasant Middle School and are taught by Ms. Emma Longoria. The Mount Pleasant High School Orchestra is taught by Ms. Abby Ernst.
All students are welcome to join the orchestra program, regardless of grade level or prior experience.

Beginning Strings
Our beginning strings class is open to all sixth-grade students at Mt. Pleasant Middle School, and is a great way to begin your orchestra career! In this class, we develop the fundamental skills to engage in a life-long relationship with our instrument. Enrollment is always open, even in the middle of the school year, we would love to have you join us! |
Intermediate Orchestra
The Intermediate Orchestra offers Mt. Pleasant Middle School students to pursue more advanced instrumental music instruction. We perform four concerts each year, participate in Solo and Ensemble, and even have the opportunity to travel. Enrollment is open to all seventh and eighth-grade students and to experienced sixth-grade students by audition. |
High School Orchestra
The High School Orchestra offers students at Mt. Pleasant High School the opportunity to deepen their understanding of music through performance. Students in this ensemble have the opportunity to participate in chamber music, hold leadership roles, and participate in a variety of festivals and workshops. |
